Mentoring Program
Innovative Community Action Network (I.C.A.N.) Mentoring Program is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit community based program founded 1995. We exists to meet the needs of at-risk and troubled youths within the community between the ages of 7-17 years of old. We’re here to educate, encourage, inspire, and to provide one on one mentoring to both boys and girls to better themselves and their community. We also provide training to citizens so that they may in turn become mentors, this will enable them to use their talents and experiences to make a difference in their communities through mentoring.
The I.C.A.N. Mentoring Program was established to address the problems and needs relating to the growing isolation of youths within our community. We realize that we need a different approach of reaching our youths. We know it does take a village to raise a child. We believe that you start building a good and safe community when mentoring is incorporated into the building process.
Therefore, we at I.C.A.N. view mentoring as a positive means of transforming our youths into productive adults. Thereby, giving many citizens within the community the great opportunity to contribute to the reclamation of our youths through realistic and flexible volunteerism efforts as mentors.
